Challenge

As the face of The Events Mill, Christopher required a website that brought his flamboyant personality and imaginative events to life. He needed colourful, creative and eccentric graphic design to invite the end user into his perspective-altering, lavish world. Where other events websites can often feel corporate, Christopher wanted to beautifully showcase how he produces extraordinary, immersive experiences that are anything but traditional. He and the wider The Events Mill team also needed the functionality to update the website themselves with their latest events and blogs.

Approach

We started by analysing the old The Events Mill website and found out what Christopher didn’t like about it. This helped us establish how we’d visually elevate his work and status as a party architect, rather than a traditional events planner. We worked with their in-house designer to come up with a website concepts to present to Christopher. His preferred route included powerful video, beautiful case studies and clever mentions of Christopher to personify his spectacular brand.

We worked collaboratively on the website and, in particular, on the homepage, as this was the vital page to sell Christopher’s services to new clients. With plenty of video content to feature throughout the site, we made sure all videos were optimised for website speed and were mobile responsive too.

Christopher’s site needed to be practical not only for potential clients, but also to allow him and his team to make changes in the back end. We built the site using modular design throughout, giving Christopher the creative control to swap out elements as and when he pleases.

Result

Bursting with colour, character and exciting event footage, The Events Mill’s new website perfectly captures Christopher’s brand. It can be scaled up as he continues to diversify his offering, whether that’s through blogs, pages like The Events Meal or features for media coverage such as his recent BBC Three show, The Big Proud Party Agency.

To keep The Events Mill website working at its best, Christopher has one of our monthly website care plans. We also helped The Events Mill team increase their productivity by supplying them with Microsoft 365 licences from our sister company, Saunders Networks and migrating all of their data from their Google Workspace.
