Challenge
We were approached by ProShop ERP because their website was performing poorly. Slow load speed was a major problem and had a negative knock-on effect on the performance of their marketing campaigns and PPC. The site wasn’t maintained either, which resulted in old versions of plug-ins being used and security best practices, such as two-factor authentication on logins, not being followed.
Approach
We completely rebuilt ProShop’s website in WordPress, following development best practices to boost site speed across all devices. Tasks included properly optimising images for the web and using neat and tidy code across all pages. We also enhanced user experience with subtle design tweaks, making for a seamless and more enjoyable customer journey.
Another way we improved the site’s speed and performance was by implementing a bespoke virtual private server (VPS) for ProShop. Before working with us, ProShop used standard shared hosting, which meant that the site was sitting on a server with many other company’s websites. Since ProShop has six websites, we suggested they have their own private server to improve speed and security. As part of this offering, we provided server security monitoring and website security monitoring.
Result
We drastically improved the speed of ProShop ERP’s website. Originally, the site ranked ‘poor’ on Google PageSpeed, achieving a score of 0-49 and taking over 10 seconds to load. As a result of our development work and hosting the site on our virtual private server, ProShop ERP’s new website rocketed to a ‘good’ score of 90+. From the end user’s perspective, this makes for a better experience where they’re less likely to bounce off the site and more likely to spend longer on the page and convert.
